Arizona Adaptive Watersports is BACK at Lake Havasu!

Published

Arizona Adaptive Watersports has kicked off another exciting season by spending a weekend at Lake Havasu this past month.

The Christian non-profit has a vision — “for anyone with a disability to have access to get on the water and embrace the freedom and adventure that awaits.” Their weekend at Lake Havasu was just the first of many events coming this summer to make that vision a reality.

The event was a success! With dozens of participants, including local organizations like Milemarkers and New Horizons, many people were able to enjoy the lake and the sun. This was the third-annual trip to the lake, supporting those with disabilities with “adaptive” watersports equipment, giving them the opportunity to try kayaking, waterskiing, tubing or a combination of the three.

“We break barriers” is a quote often used by Jo Crawford, event coordinator. With experienced volunteers and their adaptive equipment, AAWS helps their participants safely enjoy the water. Those who are disabled don’t often get to experience the exciting world of watersports. AAWS opens the door to that world.
